Why do just one cool cover when you can have six! The new issue of Grafikmagazin appears with six completely different cover motifs designed by studios from Germany and the USA. What’s special: The motifs were implemented using risography printing and are true pieces of art. This really is creative printing.

Content

In terms of content, the new issue of the graphic magazine is at least as colorful as the cover. This time, the »Focus« section focuses on ethics in design. IT specialist Sarah Spiekermann deals with digital ethics and has developed a value system for the 21st century, which we will take a closer look at. We spoke to Robin Auer, board member at DDC and designer at IBM, about the responsibility that companies and designers have when dealing with AI. You can find this and more in our focus on »Ethics in Design«.

And as always there’s lots more to be discovered, type design and articles on design & research and some brilliant book and magazine projects.

The cover

Risography printing is very versatile, from flyers to postcards or art prints, many things can be achieved using the environmentally friendly process. However, using risography on a large scale for magazine covers is unusual.

Six designers and Riso studios in Germany and the USA developed and printed motifs for for this issue of Grafikmagazin. Each motif is completely different, each has its own design and printing refinements.

The wrap-around cover, where the front and back correspond, was first pre-printed using offset and then printed by the studios using the risography process.

The cover designs come from Herr & Frau Rio, Kelli Anderson, Martin Krusche, Rosidruckt, Superkolor and The Happy Club.
